Son of Charles and Evelyn Osborne; husband of Elaine Osborne; and father of Katie and Ross Osborne.
Martin was one of two men who escaped when a Lynx helicopter crashed into the Adriatic Sea off Ploce in Bosnia. When he realised that the three other men were trapped in the helicopter, he dived to try and free them, but the helicopter door slid shut and he was unable to swim to the surface.
He attended Fleet Infant School and joined the Army after leaving Belper High School and also served in the First Gulf War and twice in Northern Ireland.
